Ab Wheel
Know what’s fun?
A plank.
Know what’s even more fun?
Making a plank harder than it already is.
That’s obviously what the person who came up with the ab wheel was thinking because a bundle of fun is exactly what that piece of equipment is.
As you’ve undoubtedly seen from people using it, the ab wheel gizmo is nothing but a wheel with a metal shaft protruding from the middle of it that serves as a handle for you to hold onto while extending your body into a plank position. When shopping for one, you don’t need anything fancy, such as an ab wheel with springs, ergonomic hand grips, or other bells and whistles. Just stick to one of the cheap models that can be had for no more than $15 maximum.1Ab wheels are cheap, but that’s not a commentary on their durability. I’ve had mine for so long that I can’t even remember how long and it still does the job without a hitch.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the larger the wheel, the more beneficial it’ll be for your upper and lower rectus abdominis and external and internal obliques. However, if you’re new to the movement or have a weak core, it’s in your best interest to get a standard size wheel because the larger the wheel, the harder the movement becomes.
