The Importance Of Patience In Achieving Goals
Have a goal but don’t understand how important patience is toward reaching it?
Okay, since you have trouble with that very simple concept, let’s say there’s somewhere that you want to go by car. Maybe it’s just a quick jaunt to the grocery store to pick up a few items or you’re heading out of town for a weekend getaway with your side piece.
Now, with it established that you’re a philanderer and too cheap to pay the surcharge to have your groceries delivered like a baller, what’s going to happen if you hop in your car and then suddenly stop along the route to wherever you’re headed because it’s taking too long to get there?
Yup, if you stop then what’s going to happen is that you ultimately won’t arrive at the place that you wanted to go. And what if you resume your journey? Well, it’s going to take even longer to arrive at your destination because of the stoppage of movement in the direction of the end point.
Going from point A to point B takes a certain amount of time and effort depending on how far the destination is from where you started. So regardless of whether the place you’re heading to is local or far flung, you’re not going to physically arrive at your destination until you drive the necessary span of road, which itself is part of a series of steps that have to be completed for you to get to wherever you’re going.1Those steps include grabbing your car keys, walking to your car, opening your car door and getting in, buckling your seatbelt, pressing the brake pedal and turning the ignition to start the car, shifting the gear selector into D mode and releasing the brake pedal, stepping on the gas pedal to accelerate, making the appropriate right and left turns, etc. You know, because teleporters haven’t been invented yet!
Now apply that analogue to your goals.
Oooooooooh, and just like that you suddenly see the importance of patience and staying the course!
