The SMART goal-setting framework consists of a mnemonic acronym for the considerations that should be made in development of an objective, whether it be health and fitness related or otherwise. This form of goal setting is effective because addressing the criteria that each letter represents can help to focus efforts and foster accountability, all of which improves the chance of achieving a desired outcome.
