Weight Loss Tip: no.1495

Limit or avoid deep-fried food.

Care to guess why?

Yup, you should limit or avoid deep-fried food because the oil and cooking method that’s often used to make items like fried chicken, French fries, and onion rings contributes a significant amount of extra calories to a dish, as well as 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴 fat, which can affect hormones that regulate appetite and fat storage.

Deep-fried food cannot only be fattening when eaten regularly but it can also affect your health by raising cholesterol and increasing the risk of diabetes and heart disease. Given these considerations, it’s best to reduce deep-fried food from restaurants to occasional treats. And if frying food at home, try alternative methods like using an air fryer or traditional convection oven to bake at a very high temperature. Both of these methods can make food crispy with little or no oil. And if deep-frying, use gluten-free flour like cornmeal or rice flour so less oil gets absorbed by the food as opposed to all-purpose flour. Also, pat the food down with a dry paper towel after frying to help remove excess oil.
