Weight Loss Tip: no.2326

Drink protein powder with your meals.

Care to guess why?

Yup, you should drink protein during your meal because studies have found that doing so elicits a greater reduction in fat mass than when shakes are taken as a snack between meals, which has the opposite effect on fat accumulation. The reason for this phenomenon mostly has to do with the body not registering liquid calories the same way it does calories from solid food. Due to that, you’re not as likely to eat less food at subsequent feedings to offset the calories from a shake when protein powder is consumed between meals. That, however, is not the case when protein powder is consumed at the time of a meal. When that happens, you’re more likely to factor in the shake’s calories and eat less food at that sitting, which decreases the potential for the accumulation of fat from excess calories getting stored as such.
