Coffee Before The Gym: 5 Benefits
Before you blow your next paycheck on supplements to power you through your workout, you might want to take a look in your kitchen first.
Sure, it’s not exactly a pretty sight with the stack of dirty dishes in the sink, filthy countertops, and roaches all over the place, but look past that, primarily in the cupboard.
What do you see?
You see more roaches, of course!
Those buggers are EVERYWHERE!!!
But know what else you see?
Yeah, a can of coffee.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s empty and you just haven’t gotten around to throwing it away yet, but let’s say there’s actually coffee in there. Here’s why you should make some before your next workout!
BOOSTS ENERGY LEVEL
Actually, it’s technically wrong to say that coffee provides energy because the beans don’t supply many calories (the scientific term for “energy”). Instead, how coffee makes you more active is via caffeine, which goes to work on the brain’s receptors.1I know I’m expected to make a joke about you not having a brain, but I’ll pass on the easy material out of fear of becoming too predictable.
INCREASES FAT BURNING
The body turns carbs into glucose, which it stores as glycogen in the muscles and liver for immediate fuel. Now, the body normally resorts to using muscle glycogen to power itself through a workout, but coffee can cause it to tap into the fat cells instead.2This, of course, is predicated on you putting your phone down long enough to do a fucking set!
IMPROVES ENDURANCE
With the body using its fat stores to fuel itself instead of glycogen from the muscles, you can use those muscles a teensy bit longer before they crap out on you.3This, of course, is still predicated on you putting your phone down long enough to do a fucking set!
REDUCES MUSCLE PAIN
Related to better endurance, coffee can help you do more in the gym and push harder by blocking out pain perception and triggering the release of dopamine and endorphins, two of the body’s four hormones responsible for happiness.4This, of course, is predicated on you having put your phone down long enough to do a fucking set!!!
IMPROVES MENTAL FOCUS
Coffee can help keep your mind on what you’re doing as you work out by increasing activity in the prefrontal lobe of the brain, the area specific to such things as attention span and concentration.5This means that if you put your phone down long enough to do a fucking set, you can do that fucking set without your head on a swivel looking at all the eye-candy passing you by without noticing you even exist.
As we see, coffee isn’t only for starting your day. Nope, it can also be used to boost your workout and the effects of it. That’s all thanks to caffeine, the active ingredient in coffee.
But before nursing an entire coffee carafe all day because you think more is better, you should limit your intake to one cup during the day, preferably 30 to 60 minutes before working out. That way you get the desired effects of caffeine right when you need it and don’t build up a tolerance.6Yes, more is always better when it comes to penis size but more is not better when it comes to coffee, as huge cups of it all day can weaken its performance-enhancing effects. Regarding the matter of penis size and the bigger the better, that’s something your woman feels very strongly about but will deny to you so she doesn’t crush your ego!
If you’re not much of a coffee drinker because you have functioning taste buds, then caffeine pills are just as good as, if not better than, coffee because of price and convenience.7PRICE
The typical 8-ounce cup of coffee contains around 80–100 mg of caffeine and costs an average of $2.99 across all restaurant categories (quick and full service). At gourmet coffee shops, $4.24 is the average price. Compare and contrast that to the $10 or less that can be spent on a 100 count of 200 mg tabs.
CONVENIENCE
There’s no time spent brewing or going to buy fresh coffee. All you have to do is open the bottle and take the proper dosage (100-200 mg) before your workout.
