Weight Loss Tip: no.148

Losing weight is about taking in fewer calories and an easy way to reduce food intake is to eat with the TV turned off.

Care to guess why?

Yup, not eating in front of the TV or turning it off can help you eat less at a sitting because the undivided attention placed on your food allows the brain to pick up on cues that you’ve eaten enough, such as how much is gone from the plate or how full your stomach feels. Conversely, it’s easy not to notice how much food you’ve eaten when you eat while preoccupied. So not only should you eat while not watching TV but the same goes for reading, talking or playing on the phone, working on the computer, playing video games, etc. In other words, eat only while sitting down at a table and doing nothing else.
