Weight Loss Tip: no.152
Cinnamon may help lower your body weight.
Care to guess why?
Yup, adding cinnamon to your food can contribute to weight loss by helping to regulate blood sugar levels, which can result in less hunger and cravings. And by way of stabilizing blood sugar, the body is more responsive to insulin, thus resulting in more use of calories as energy as opposed to them getting stored as fat. So cinnamon has those two things going for it. Additionally, cinnamaldehyde, the primary compound that gives cinnamon its distinctive flavor, may also increase the metabolism of fat cells. That benefit of fat burning, however, has only been observed in animals and human fat cells in test tubes and petri dishes. More research is needed on human beings before it can be definitively stated that cinnamon has a thermogenic effect on fat.
