When you drink coffee in the morning can have a good or bad effect on your metabolism.

Yup, drinking coffee on an empty stomach upon waking can spike the stress hormone cortisol and impair the body’s control of blood sugar levels and how it responds to insulin. Both of those things can adversely affect how the body burns calories and stores fat. Conversely, eating first and then drinking coffee later if you still need it doesn’t have the same effect on the metabolism.
