Weight Loss Tip: no.1027
Smoothies can help you lose weight with a few tweaks.
Care to guess why?
Yup, one of the major problems with smoothies is that they’re a liquid and calories in liquid form aren’t as satiating as those from solid food. As a result, it’s not unusual to still be hungry shortly after drinking a smoothie, which can result in consuming more calories. Also, in addition to not being filling, smoothies can actually increase hunger by rapidly spiking and crashing blood glucose levels depending on the ingredients that are used. So to make smoothies a better choice for weight loss, what you can do is add items like oats, seeds, natural nut butter, plain Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and protein powder. Ingredients like those contain fiber, protein, and/or healthy fats, all of which can help with satiety and temper the elevation of blood sugar, which should also be done by dumping the use of sugar, maple syrup, fruit juice, whipped cream, frozen and flavored yogurt, ice cream, and other quick-digesting ingredients.
