Ectomorph: an individual who runs around bitching and moaning to anyone who'll listen that they can't gain weight no matter how much food they imagine themselves eating, obviously not understanding that fantasy calories don't translate into real-world gains.

The person with the ectomorph somatotype is also known as a “hardgainer”, which is bullshit.

So long as you don’t have some kind of medical condition, putting on muscle is simply a matter of calories in-calories out (CICO) and creating enough of a stimulus to prompt an adaptation.

End of story.

So if you don’t have a true metabolic and/or hormonal disorder and have made little to no progress after doing “everything”, the fault lies in your hold on reality, with you not training as hard as you think you’re training or eating as much as you think you’re eating.

No more, no less.
