What To Do With Thanksgiving Leftovers
Thanksgiving is over and after spending the day eating more than you normally do, there’s a lot of delicious green bean casserole and other food left.
You know you can’t eat like every day is Thanksgiving, so what are you to do with all the delicious green bean casserole and other leftover food?1Yeah, the shitload of food you cooked and now have left over after inviting all your friends, family, and coworkers to your place for dinner and absolutely no one showing up!
You’re right.
You certainly can’t pig out ‘til the leftovers are gone because while one day of indulgence isn’t going to do anything to you, eating freely like that is a good way to welcome weight gain into your life.
So what to do?!
Hmmmm…
Well, you can just throw the Thanksgiving food away.
Problem solved!
Oh, but you’re not a super dick who can throw perfectly good food away while there are millions of people starving?
Well, then contact a local housing shelter or food bank to see if they accept perishable food donations.
Problem solved!
Oh, but while you feel empathy for starving people not to be wasteful with food, you’re not actually decent enough of a person to want to feed them?
Well, then you can just feed the leftovers to your pets.
Problem solved!
Oh, but feeding human food to your pets might be dangerous and you have a strange attachment to your pet to the point of viewing it as your child?
Hmmmm…
Well, then you can just do nothing but eat the leftovers.
Yes, eat the leftovers!
However, rather than eating Thanksgiving food like it’s Thanksgiving day, practice that thing you’ve been doing on the days that aren’t holidays.
And that thing is?!
Yup, portion control!
So like with any other food on any other day, weigh and track leftovers to make sure the calories and macros align with your intake goals and then eat them as is or repurpose them into other meals.
Buon appetito!
