Why You Should Do HIIT
Know what’s bad?
Yeah, cardio!
Sure, cardio has its benefits, such as strengthening the heart, improving blood circulation for clearer skin, decreasing the chances of limp dick in men, and raising and sustaining levels of an enzyme in women that increases blood flow to their lady bits and enhances arousal for better orgasms. With all of that said though, cardio BLOWS!!!
Anyway, know what’s even badder than cardio?
Yeah, doing it and not getting as much out of it as you should!
Talk about bad!
That’s why you should be doing HIIT if you’re not already!!!
DEFINITION:
High-intensity interval training, better known as “HIIT”, is an exercise protocol that can be performed with any type of cardio workout and involves repeated bouts of all-out effort between periods of less intense exercise or complete rest.
EXAMPLE:
Crank up the treadmill to 12 mph and 20% incline and sprint while holding onto the handrails for dear life for 30 seconds then reduce the speed to 3 mph and 3% incline and walk for 60 seconds while trying to suck in as much oxygen as possible. Repeat 8-12 times.
BENEFIT: CONVENIENCE
An average HIIT workout takes 30 minutes or less. That means not as much time for all of your poor life decisions to replay in your head as you do cardio. Yes,it’s over that fast!
Why, yes indeedily doodily, HIIT is like your sex life.
…except you’ll be satisfied when it’s done!
BENEFIT: STAMINA
HIIT better prepares you to outrun everybody else when the zombie apocalypse finally comes. Yeah, the zombie apocalypse TV and movies have been clearly warning you about!!!
So in addition to stocking up on food and ammo, HIIT should be part of any well-thought-out doomsday planning.
BENEFIT: MUSCLE
Perform cardio at a snail’s pace and the calories burned are mostly from muscle. Save muscle with HIIT because the calories burned actually come from fat stores.
No body shaming here, though.
Fuck, more power to you if the sexy marathon runner body type is the look you’re going for!
BENEFIT: METABOLISM
That boring cardio that you currently suffer through burns more calories than HIIT while you do it but that’s only because it’s done for a longer duration. Also, you stop burning calories once the cardio is finished.
HIIT doesn’t do that.
Instead, HIIT increases the metabolic rate and turns your body into an inferno so after you’ve stopped, fat is still screaming, “I’m melting, I’m melting” like the Wicked Witch of the West.
